My name is Julia McMillan, and I've been fascinated by gemstones for as long as I can remember — the way a piece of labradorite catches the light, the ancient stillness of Roman glass, the unmistakable purple banding of British Blue John. These aren't just decorative objects. They're fragments of the earth with their own history, their own character.

Oak Island Gems was born from that fascination. Every piece in our collection is handpicked and handcrafted — many set in sterling silver right here in the UK. We specialise in natural, semi-precious gemstones, with a particular love for rare British stones like Blue John from Derbyshire and Celestobarite from North Yorkshire. You won't find these in high street shops.

I believe jewellery should feel like you — not like everyone else. That's why I keep my pieces small in number and thoughtful in design. No mass production. No shortcuts. Just honest materials and careful craft.
